Carlos of Morpheus Youth Project and DJ Weather at KZME

Man, what a good time on the show this week. Continuing the Sounds of the DJ series and DJ Weather came with a dope mix of hip hop, funk, soul, rock… Real DJ! Plus we had some great conversation about the local scene, a cool Beastie Boys tribute event that’s coming up, the Morpheus Youth Project and free vinyl!

I also had the pleasure of speaking with Green Lick Media Group artist BigMo, a conscious MC who’s about to perform on the Big K.R.I.T. Portland tour stop this Friday. Really looking forward to continuing to build with this cat.

Randall Wyatt, Stewart Villain and DJ Fatboy @ KZME

Stewart Villain, DJ Fatboy and Randall Wyatt in the Neighborhood

Last week Speaker Minds front man Randall Wyatt passed through the Neighborhood in preparation for Speaker Minds presents Live and Funkdafied. It was a combination birthday celebration for the man himself plus a night of funk and hip hop. While at the station we also got a chance to hear the first track from his brand new project The Slim Pickens Experiment, a collaboration between Randall and Speaker Minds guitarist Donnell Kennedy.

Stewart Villain and DJ Fatboy hung out until 10 and shared a track off of the upcoming project Lean Team 2. The first project they released together was more than well received and the track we played on Tuesday shows that folk won’t be disappointed from this second offering.

I also got to play a track off of Stewart’s solo project that I’ve been anxiously waiting to hear. It’s amazing to hear to person I’ve known so well as a producer show so much skill on the mic. And before the evening was through, Stewart freestyled over a beat in studio showing the skills of a real MC!

Check out the links to the podcast on the main page via iTunes or the KZME web site, and peep the playlist below.

Until next time,

Blessings!
